The Veronicas’ Jessica Origliasso and her fiancé, Alex Smith, are renovating a stunning beachfront apartment on the Gold Coast. The apartment, purchased by Origliasso in May, will be their first home project together. The couple made an offer on the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit with sweeping views and it was sold within 12 hours.
The renovation process will be documented on an online series called Celebrity Renovations, hosted by Jake Edwards, a buyers’ agent who they hired to assist with the purchase. Origliasso and Smith plan to split their time between the Gold Coast apartment and Smith’s condo in Los Angeles.
Origliasso, who was born in Brisbane, expressed that the beach lifestyle is a welcome change from their hectic work schedules and brings back fond childhood memories. The couple enjoys waking up for sunrise and going for ocean swims. They are also decorating their dining table with hand-painted dinnerware they found during a recent trip to Italy.
Origliasso and Smith got engaged after a whirlwind romance across three continents. Their love story led them to exchange rings in the Catacombs of Paris. Smith, who comes from a family of real estate developers, has a passion for renovations and developments. Together, they collaborated with Unik Projects and ABI Interiors to create an eclectic haven inspired by their travels.
The renovation plans include replacing terracotta floor tiles with timber, upgrading the kitchen with an island bench, and renovating the bathrooms. They will also be adding new French doors and Juliet balconies. The couple aims to transform an under-stair nook into a cocktail bar and create a lavish master suite on the top floor.
The apartment will have a neutral palette with natural textures, brass fixtures, and Parisian-inspired green tiling. Origliasso wants the space to have personality and a touch of eccentricity. The couple plans to complete the renovation by December, in time for their birthday dinner celebrations.
The Veronicas recently signed with US label Big Noise and will release a new single in October.
