Eko Health, a leading manufacturer of digital stethoscopes, has signed a lease for office space at 2100 Powell Street in Emeryville, offering a glimmer of hope in the struggling Bay Area office market. The deal, which was arranged by commercial real estate firm JLL, involves a full-floor lease for the company’s headquarters.
The decision to establish their headquarters in Emeryville reflects Eko Health’s transformation from a digital stethoscope provider into a health technology innovator, according to Renee Gaeta, the company’s CFO. The move comes at a time when the office vacancy rates in the East Bay and the wider Bay Area are high. In the second quarter of this year, Emeryville’s office vacancy rate stood at 26.5%, while the western East Bay market’s rate was at 16.5%.
JLL conducted an extensive search to find the right space for Eko Health, ultimately securing 17,000 square feet in the office tower. Francisco Torres, a JLL senior vice president, stated that the goal was to find a collaborative and employee-centric space that supports Eko’s growth and innovation plans.
The lease not only secures Eko Health’s presence in the East Bay region but also aligns with the company’s mission to provide high-quality sound and connectivity in their digital stethoscope products. Designed to be compatible with cell phones and wireless earbuds, these devices offer superior sound quality compared to traditional stethoscopes.
Eko Health’s choice to set up their headquarters in Emeryville demonstrates their commitment to growth and dedication to fostering a dynamic and inspiring workspace for their team. Despite the challenges facing the office market, this lease offers a much-needed ray of hope for the region’s commercial real estate sector.
