Trapezium House: A Modern Oasis Blending Design and Natural Beauty in Southern Brazil

Designed by Studio KUNZ, the Trapezium House is a stunning architectural masterpiece located in the picturesque town of David Canabarro, Rio Grande do Sul in southern Brazil. This one-floor residence spans 1,830 square feet and seamlessly merges contemporary design with the rustic charm of the Brazilian countryside.

The architects at Studio KUNZ have ingeniously deconstructed the traditional gabled roof, replacing it with two trapezoidal sections. The result is a facade that captivates the eye with its oblique angles, presenting a visual spectacle that exudes dynamism and creativity.

The distinctive shape of the Trapezium House extends to its interior as well. The structure is formed by the extrusion of two trapezoids, featuring inclined slabs that form a unique roof structure and internal ceiling. The clever incorporation of inverted beams ensures a continuous ceiling surface.

To add warmth and texture to the facade’s shades of gray, dark wooden slat accents have been incorporated. These accents beautifully contrast with the contemporary elements, creating an inviting and cozy ambiance.

The interior of the Trapezium House radiates tranquility and charm. The architects have carefully curated a space that seamlessly integrates nature and design. With two subtly separated levels, the use of natural materials such as wood, linen, and burnt cement, and an overall white finish, the house exudes a sense of warmth and serenity. The living room and kitchen area, flooded with natural light, seamlessly blend with the picturesque surroundings.

During the colder winters of southern Brazil, a fireplace and wood stove provide a comforting warmth, while strategically placed windows allow for breathtaking views in every direction.

The Trapezium House truly encapsulates the perfect harmony between modern design and the untouched natural beauty of the Brazilian countryside. It stands as a testament to Studio KUNZ’s creativity and their ability to reimagine traditional architectural elements to create a novel and captivating living space.
